September 2011

  • Datacenter unplanned power outage
    • Dates: 09-08-11 (5:15pm) through 09-09-11 (7:15am)
    • Length of outage: Approx 14 hours
    • Reason: SDGE general outage and Datacenter generator failure due to a bad water pump.  The generator worked as expected only 10 minutes then failed.   From that point the Datacenter ran approx 48 minutes on UPS power prior to complete outage.  The water pump has since been replaced and the generator is functional once more.

  • E-mail Storage Maintenance: (Planned outage)
    • Dates: 8/7/11 (10 am - 4pm)
    • Length of outage: Approx. 6 hours
    • Reason: Required maintenance
    • If you have questions, e-mail Edgar Hodge, Director of University Computer Operations (UCO) at ehodge@mail.sdsu.edu.
    • Note: During this time, access to mail.sdsu.edu/ webmail.sdsu.edu via pop/ imap/ webmail was not available. Incoming email messages were queued and resumed delivery after maintenance was completed.


July 2011

  • Meeting Maker: (Planned outage)
    • Dates: 7/16/11 (2 am) through 7/17/11
    • Length of outage: Approx. 2 days
    • Reason: Maintenance to reduce size of database to improve application functionality
    • Contact email or phone: etshelpdesk@mail.sdsu.edu
    • Resolution: Reduced the Meeting Maker database from 13 years of data down to 3 years
    • Note: Upon opening Meeting Maker for the first time after scheduled maintenance, users were instructed to click on Revert button option.
  • Power outage
    • Dates:  7/15/11 (11:35 pm) through 7/16/11 (2:15 am)
    • Length of outage: Approx. 3 hours
    • Reason: Campus lost power

    • Resolution: Power was restored by Physical Plant.
    • Note: UCO Data Center automatically switched over to UPS system.
